Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Can a lanlord be liable providing tenant information and what apartment he lives and violating tenant privacy to any one ask if he lives in the building and telling them what apartment.

If you asked the landlord not to reveal that information, there might be some liability, but otherwise you have the problem of showing that you had a reasonable expectancy of not having your name revealed [and that it was not on your mailbox, list of tenants in the lobby, etc.] and that you actually suffered damages from what the landlord did [a bill collector finding you would not be a recoverable damage].
