Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Getting out of lease

I have taken a job that requires me to work out of the country. My 12 month lease dosen't end utill October 1st. If I give 30 days notice is that ok? Will I get a bulk of my deposite back? How should I go about getting out of my lease?

Re: Getting out of lease

Be up-front and humble with your landlord. Offer to find a new tenant. You might not be able to "get out" of the lease if the landlord's not sympathetic, but if the landlord finds a new tenant, the amount you will owe should be reduced. Also, could you ask your new employer to help you with the rent or deposit on either end?
