Is it legal to rent a room in a house if the room has a door to the outside but no way of entrance into the house?

To my knowledge there are no specific laws concerning what a room rented in a boarding or sublet type situation should have by way of ingress or egress to anything other than the main part of the home and the doors that are available to any other occupants. You should have a key to the main access points (front and back door). What you are describing is a bit unusual, but I could imagine a room with access to a garden area.
