Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I live in California. I rent an apartment in a 4 unit apartment complex. One neighbor is suing the landlord because his rent was increased and mine wasn't and the other 2 have lived here less than a year and wouldn't have experienced an increase yet, however he saw the rental ad on craigs list and it was $100 less than his, so he plans to supeona all of us to provide him with a copy of our rental agreement. Can he do that? I don't think it's any of his business. Wouldn't he have to supeona the records of the landlord instead so I don't get involved?

Yes he can do that. For better or worse he can subpoena anyone who has records or information that are relevant to the case.
