Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I live in a ten unit apartment complex we have cats and most of the other tenants do also. One unit has three dogs the owner of the property says it is ok to have cats only my wife had just adopted two small rescue dogs. Now the owner found out and says we cant have them and have to get rid of them by the end of the month or face a 30 day evection notice. I told him about the other tenant with the three dogs and he says he is the only one allowed to have them. I think it is wrong and I feel im being discriminated what legal action I take if im being served with a 30 day notice I want to fight this.

There is no law requiring landlords to treat tenants equally or fairly, as long as any distinction is not based on race, religion, or other "protected" category. A landlord is free to make a policy and to make an exception for one tenant and not for others.
