Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I lived in a condo in California and was unhappy with several things including getting property stolen by workers employed by the building, we as tenants were promised MANY things prior to moving in, simple things like security gates, cleanliness, fully equipped gym etc etc many other tenants in the building were unhappy together and as a group we wrote an email to the property management stating our concerns and that if the problems werent fixed in a timely manner we would all start witholding rent until issues were resolved..... immediately they 3 day noticed all participating so some people backed out and paid and some held strong including us, held the rent and they kept making false promises and they didnt so we withheld another months rent and then we get an email from their attorney threatening eviction, we expressed our concerns to him and he wasnt pleasant because we actually had a case against them but we werent wanting to fight only for the things to get fixed so we could live happy and safe. finally they started fixing issues so we offered all monies due and the lawyer refused and said it was too late now im in collections for 20,000+ dollars what can i do now? I want sue to retaliate and sue them for doing this to my credit and for claiming damages that were never made besides normal wear and tear(i have proof) I also in writing offered the full amount and wasnt given a chance i dont believe thats just.
