If a living condition is bad for you and your family and you report it to the landlord, and nothing gets done. What is the next step?

Step One: Make sure it is reported in writing, keep one copy of the report for your records. Some people like to make the report by certified mail-return receipt requested.
Step Two: You need to determine if the condition is actually bad for you, i.e., affects the warranty of habitability, or if it is something that you do not like or that is annoying to you. Go to the following website for some answers: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/landlordbook/index.shtml
