Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I am in my early 20s and have been living at my parents home in California while I attend college. My father has decided to throw me out and not let me retrieve any of my possessions. Does he have a legal right to do this? Even if I can prove that I paid for almost of my things myself? Does the fact that I contributed finanicially to the household and paid (minimal) rent give me any rights as a tenant? Do I have a right to retrieve my bills and mail that are delivered to their home until I notify the companies of a change of address?

In a word "NO". They can not just "throw you out". Because you can show it is your primary residence (and that you have been paying rent, however minimal), they will have to go through an eviction process (give you notice, etc).

Additionally, your possessions can be retrieved, with police assistance if necessary. You are in the same situation as a month to month renter who has a landlord that wants to evict them. There is a legal process and it has to be followed.

It can get nasty, so be wary, remember...they are your parents.
