How long dies the landlord havethe right to hold on to the security deposit after tenent vacates the property. Asuming the has been no major damages to the property.

Pursuant to California Civil Code 1980 they have 21 days after you vacate teh premises to send you an itemised satement of the amounts withheld and the balance.
