Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
how long do you have to vacate premises after breaking lease. The lease was for 1 year and i was told that in order for me to get current on lease i will have to pay 2 months rent plus all attorney fees.
if i file bankruptcy how much time does that buy me.

You have provided no information on why you owe attorney fees [does it provide for attorney fees even if a judgment is not obtained?] so i can not comment on that issue. You owe rent for all the time you maintain any control over the rental unit; so until you clearly have moved out and returned the keys, it is the same as your still being there because someone else can not move in. filing for bankruptcy might buy 1-2 more months of occupacy, as the landlord would have to get relief from the stay of not being able to file a law suit, but your debts may not be great enough to allow you to successfully file.
