manager slander tenant to son

manager of complex on mothers day approached son and ask personal questions of the tenant , inform son of previous problem tenant had with another tenant

Is this slander of defamation action

should a manger of a complex gossip to a family member about the tenant or gossip to anyone personal information about the tenant

The answer depends on whether what was said was true. Slander/defemation occur when someone spreads untruths about someone else. The difficulty with a slander case is proving damages--the award/remedy is usually an amount that you can prove the slander/defamation has actually cost you.
