Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Manager threatening Subleasee

Management told us today that we have until 6pm to leave apt we have been subleasing. We have written ''sublease'' and our rent was paid to original leasee but he was not giving rent to management. We have subleased for 4 months. We were just verbally informed that apt was surrendered due to non payment and we have until 6pm tonight to vacate. We have seen no judgements, eviction paperwork or notices. What rights do we have? We are in Downtown Los Angeles, CA.

Re: Manager threatening Subleasee

If original tenant has agreed to vacate, you still need to be evicted.

Management must serve 3 day notice, then file unlawful detainer. Since you have no knowledge of such, do not leave.

Keep all your receipts.

Good luck!
