Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
what is the maximum occupancy permitted within a three bedroom single faimly home in california. for example i have a friend who has 6 kids herself and husband who would like to rent a home, keep in mind the four middle children are all boys and easily housed with two sets of bunkbeds and are pretty close in age while the youngest and oldest both girls can share a room, the house is three bed and two bath approx. 1800sq feet, could she legaly reside in the unit?

If regulated, it would most likely be the city in which the house is located. 8 people in a 1800 sf house is not that bad, as it is 220 sf per person; families of 4 often occupy home of 900 sf, which is just 5 sf per person more. if the owner of the home wants to rent to that many people, so what.
