Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I was mis-lead

I received a summons to appear in court over being 2 weeks late on my rent--this was the first time I had been late and I explained to the landlords that it was because of fraudulant activy on my checking account and even had the bank send them a statement showing that IT WAS TRUE--NEVER THE LESS LESS-EVEN WHEN I I HAD THE MONEY ONLY A FEW DAYS LATER--THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT--i TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO PAY THEM BUT THEY ALWAYS SAID i HAD TO WAIT UNTIL COURT--wELL WHEN i WENT TO COURT A NICE DRESSED GENTLEMEN CAME UP TO ME AND ASK MY NAME AND i ASSUMMED THAT HE WAS MY PUBLIC DEFENDER AS HE SEEMED TO BE ON MY SIDE--i AM NOT VERY EDUCATED ABOUT THE LAW AND i TRUSTED THAT WHAT HE TOLD ME TO DO WAS IN MY BEST INTERESTS--COME TO FIND(NOT UNTIL WE WERE STANDING IN FRONT OF THE JUDGE --THAT HE WAS THE LAWYER FOR THE APARTMENT COMPLEX--NOW i HAVE TO BE OUT OF MY APARTMENT IN 10 DAYS AND i HAVE 4 YOUNG CHILDREN AND NO WHERE TO LIVE--i BELEIVE i WAS NOT GIVEN MY EQUAL RIGHTS TO AN ATTORNEY--CANT i CHANGE MY RULING?i THOUGHT THAT MABE THE JUDGE WOULD REVERSE THE DECISION FOR AWHILE SO THAT i COULD EXPLAIN THAT i DIDNT KNOW THAT i COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL THIS
