Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Mitigate Damages

I had to move out of my apartment and agreed with the manager I would pay the rent until re-rented. Now I found out they are attempting to re rent the apartment at $100 more than I was paying. I think it's going to take a lot longer to rent at that price. Am I still responsible to pay while they get more money than they were asking before. It's in a complex and all the apartments have gone up in price.

Re: Mitigate Damages

Landlord has the right to raise the rent for new tenants. Your agreement was to pay rent at your old rate. You are liable for your agreement. Even if it will be a bit harder to rent, it would not be worth your time, effort, and money to fight it at this point, especially since all the prices are up.

Good luck!
