Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

this months rent (dec.)

My landlord made a verbal agreement for this month's rent to be $200 and i payed her that amount, she cashed it and is now saying I need to pay her the full amount. Do I need to pay her or is it a binding verbal agreement?

It is binding, BUT, you'll have to prove it, and if it is her word vs. your word it will be very hard.

Was there a witness? If not, did you write on the upper left side of the back that this was 'paid in full' for the month.

If you don't pay you'll end up in front of as judge.

I would advise you to retain an attorney, for the purpose of writing a nasty letter to your landlady.
