In California, there are certain conditions that create a landlord-tenant relationship. Whether your 'more than 30 days' stay at your grandmother's apartment rises to the level of the creation of such landlord-tenant relationship is something that you need to discuss with an attorney knowledgeable in the area of landlord-tenant and real estate law. One that can assess your particular fact pattern and advise you whether indeed you can be considered a 'tenant' living in your grandmother's apartment.
