Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My mother is disabled, has legal handicap status, requires assisted living, and her husband just died. She needs to move in with me and my wife and kids. Can we break our lease legally for this reason to find a new home that accommodates our new needs?

You can always break a lease. It is the damages that will need to be determined. Damages may be in the lease so you read it. Talk to the Landlord or property manger and work them so you can mitigate the damages.
