If your tenancy is month to month, and you have resided in the unit for more than a year, then the landlord can give you a 60 day notice to quit and there is no need for any reason to be given. If you are under a fixed term lease, and you have breached one of the requirements of your contract, then the landlord is allowed to give you a 3 day notice to cure the defect/ breach or quit the premises.
