outdoor lighting of rental units
I rent a house on s parcel with several other houses and common space. Some of the common space lighting, not physically attached to the unit I rent, is hooked up to my electric meter. Do I have to pay for this type of lighting?

I concur with Mr. Cohen. Assuming your have a written lease, look at the provisions and see if anything covers this. (The law presumes you have already read documents you sign, even though most of us, including lawyers, don't).
If there is no provision, negotiate with the landlord, and/or your neighbors.

Unless it's in the rental agreement, no. You could ask the common space owner(s) to reimburse you for the amount you reasonably believe should not be your expense. Also, you might raise the issue with your landlord to resolve it with the other owners.
