Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Owner Selling house-wife on bed rest

I have a two year lease, with no clause for termination upon sale. My landlord is being forced to do a short sale of the house because he is unable to pay his mortgage. We were notified verbally that the house was listed on 6/14/08.

I'm familiar with California Code 1954, in regards to the landlord and his Realtor showing the property; however I have a question that I haven't seen addressed anywhere.

My wife is eight months pregnant, and was placed on strict bed rest by her Doctor; due to preeclampsia. Can the Realtor show the master bedroom while she's lying in bed? She's not supposed to be up and around: this poses a risk to her life and the baby's life.

In addition to the stress of having to find another place to live, I hate to have the Real estate agents putting more stress on her by parading prospective buyers through the Master bedroom.

Notify the landlord and realtor of the situation.

There is nothing in the law books covering this, however, common sense is that the prospective buyer can open the door, look in, and leave.

Good luck!
