Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I'm paid up with my landlord thru the 22nd of this month, today belong the 14th. She just gave me 2 weeks notice to vacate March 1. CA law demands 30 days, I know, not 2 weeks. QUESTION: When/if she gives me 30 days notice, lets say on the 16th - must the 30 day clock start on the 16th (even tho I'm paid up thru the 22nd) or must it start on the 23rd?

The thirty days begins on the day notice is given.
