Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I paid this months rent with Postal money order's that have gone missing. the property mng. co. say's they can't wait the 60 days the Post office say,s the return might take, so they say they may have to send a three day notice! I haven't any money to pay two rents I'm disabled and on a fixed income. What do I do besides wait?

Ask to speak to the owner of the building and explain the situation to him/her, that you have not been late before, you can not afford to pay two rents this month, it was not your fault, if you are evicted then they will have to wait about an additional month to find someoen to move in, it may take a month before the mattter gets to court, so the next result is the may loses two months rent and a good tenant.

If you have a copy of the dated postal money order, you can use that as a defense to the unlawful detainer -- especially if the landlord's agent lost it, rather than it having been lost in the mail. You didn't say how the rent payment was to be delivered.
