Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
How can a person we paid rent to sue us for past due rent if we have proof he doesn't even own the house. He sold the house to his daughter cause he was being sued himself. He can't sue us, can he? He did and the judge saw in his favor but the addendum to the judgement said:
"Before satisfying this judgment, the defendants may want to seek legal counsel and advice concerning the "Notice of Levy" to "Tenant of 2530 Olive Hill Rd" in small claims case no.

You can appeal the small claims judgment. If he is not the real party in interest, he has no standing to bring suit. It sounds, though, that it might be too late for an appeal, since your wages and/or bank accounts are being levied. You might be able to have the amount reduced by a court based upon hardship.
