Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

pet deposit/pet rent

Is this legal? are there limits? I have

not signed an agreement with my

current landlord and there is nothing

regarding this in my lease. I got a

letter that is demanding $750.00

plus $50.00 a month for my 5lb dog.

Please advise. La Jolla, CA.

Need more info, such as length of time there, and current rent (and for how long).

Pet deposit is legal, and sounds reasonable, if that is your only question.
