Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Private Property Parking Enforcement

My girlfriend frequently comes to visit me at my apartment complex, which is really short on parking. They have about 10 spots for visitors, and they are usually all taken. One day my girlfriend parked in a ''free for all'' spot for residents, and she got a ''boot'' put on her car. (immobilized). It cost her $70 to get it removed. Is this legal? Is there a specific limit they are allowed to charge for this?

Re: Private Property Parking Enforcement

There are probably signs that say tenant parking. And, they probably give you a parking sticker. And, your girlfriend probably doesn't have such a sticker. In which case, she is parking in a tenant spot when she should not have been. As such, the ticket and boot was legal. If this is not the case, then your term "free for all" tenant parking spot is unclear. Good luck and thanks for inquiring.
