What is the process to Change an unlawful detainer into civil case, the tenant moved out before court date for the unlawful detainer but owes for back rent.

Show up at UD trial and tell the court the tenants have moved. The judge should send it to regular limited civil department of the court in which the UD is pending (you will NOT have to pay another filing fee); or dismiss WITHOUT PREJUDICE and file a breach of contract action in limited civil court (you will have to pay another filing fee); or
