Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I was given proper notice for a rent increase (60 plus days- 7-27-09) by mail, in the amount of 250.00, then I received a notice of change in terms of tenancy on 8-22-09 to transfer the water bill into my name. Both notices are to be active October 01, 2009. This is a huge increase can the landlord jack my price up this much.
thank you,

I believe you have asked this twlce. If you are not covered by rent control, at the end of the lease period, the landlord can increase the rent by however much he wants and change the terms of the lease since the old one no longer is in existance.
