Proper Service - Eviction

Do eviction papers have to be personally served? Can they be mailed?

Question #1: Not in all situations. You didn't specify which papers you were talking about. The initial notices (i.e. 3, 30, 60 Day notices) can be posted and mailed. The summons and complaint can be sub-served and mailed. Question #2: There is also a provision for service by mail which is rarely used for unlawful detainers.

Don't get into procedural arguments like this with opposing counsel. It is a futile position that is costly and probably won't accomplish much for your defense.
