Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Property line

I am rebuilding a fence for someone, there are 2 trees growing on the fence line. The trees are in the negihbors yard but most of the trees grow on the property of the people who I am replacing the fence. I can't go around the trees as they are in the middle of the fence line. The individual who is paying to have the fence replaced said for me to cut the trees down and do the fence. I am only hired to do the work and feel that if I cut down the trees I'll be caught in the middle of a major fight/dispute and don't want to be in the middle. I want to finish the job but have to cut the trees down, but I know this is going to create a major problem for all parties involved. I am the incent third party and know I am going to get caught in a battle and don't want to be involved. I just am hired to do the work, finish the job, get paid, and move on. I don't want to get caught up in the mess. Please help. The other neighbor is not going to want to have the trees cut down even thought they are in the way. I need advice and help on what to do. Thank you

Re: Property line

I dont know if you will be in trouble for cutting down the trees but you might, especially if your boss is mistaken about where the prop line is. Tell him to hire an attorney, and you may refer my contact info to him.

Best,
