property management

if i owe late fees can they legally tell me they cant except anything under a certain amount of dollars even if its more than my rent? n we do NOT have a written agreement about paying the late fees.

If there is no agreement as to late fees, then why are you agreeing to them? I am assuming this is a residential landlord. Lot's of great information can be found here: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/landlordbook/catenant.pdf

As a general rule, you should know that a landlord can charge a late fee to a tenant who doesn�t pay rent on time. However, a landlord can do this only if the lease or rental agreement contains a late fee provision.
