Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I have a question regarding my apartment lease. My lease is not up until 06/2012.

On the lease is states that my rent is xxxxx and my garage space is xxxx then is has my monthly total.

This month when I received my statement they had raised my garage space rent.

My question can they do this? Because the lease does not state that I pay the total monthly and it includes the garage.

Thank You

I would have to see the lease to be sure, but if your lease says you pay the total amount of $x and the apartment rent is $Z and garage rent $Y, the the lease establishes the amount of rent for both the room and garage for that period of time, so the garage rent can not be raised. The lease is a contract stating what the charges will be and the landlord can not try to breach that agreement.
