Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Raised my Rent- Moving Out; Do I Owe?

I paid my 1st & last up front, then the landlord raised our rent. Do I owe the landlord the difference between our initial rent and the current rent when I leave?

The "last" month's rent is not really that - it is security for your payment of the last month's rent. Yes, you owe the difference.
