Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Reasonable Access

landlord rewarded default eviction judgement against my sister while she was in the hospital. We will be appealing. She was not properly served. Found out about writ of posession on the 5th day. tomorrow the sheriff comes for the lockout.

The writ states the landlord must hold her things for at least 15 days but also provide reasonable access. The question is how is the term ''reasonable access'' defined in this situation? We haven't been given an opportunity to pack a thing and would like to just in case we lose the appeal.

Also, can the landlord go through her things while they are in his posession?

Re: Reasonable Access

Have your sister contact the landlord and arrange for a time ASAP to pick up her things. Rent a truck, bring a couple of muscled people to help out. Don't threaten the landlord with legal action before you get her things.
