Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
We received a 3 day notice on our door last month but talked to the managment company and said rent was in the mail, one month later my fianc and I get home to see the dead bolt on our front door was changed and almost everything in our house including a puppy is missing. We called the police immediately thinking it was a robbery but the next morning when we call the managment company they told us that they ha a private contractor come to the house to see if we were still there, he then changed the deadbolt and the only thing they have is our puppy. We had everything stolen from our house including toilet paper and dishes. We never received an eviction notice and the three day notice wasnt even given to us the right way, they just put it on my door and told my 10 year old neighbor that they were giving u a three day notice to leave! What can I do? I'm 12 weeks pregnant and left with nothing but a hotel bill to pay because my house is trashed from that all and I just don't feel safe in my home

The landlord can be sued for unlawful eviction;a landlord can not change the locks, or deadbolts on a door, until the tenant abandons the premises or the sheriff has served eviction papers. You seem to have a very open and shut case.
