Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I received a 3day notice and turned in my keys and moved out on the 3rd day. I never received a unlawful detainer in the mail nor in person. I applied for an apartment in 2010 and was able to get into it but when I applied in 2012 for a different apartment I was told I had an unlawful detainer on my credit report that I never knew I had. I tried calling the property management company they told me I moved out on the 18th according to the complex manager and that I owed $1372 but yet I have nothing in my possession showing any of this. What should I do since I am being turned down everywhere because of this detainer I should not have on my report?

Check with the credit report agency or agencies, find out who filed this unlawful detainer against you. An unlawful detainer is a lawsuit, it costs the landlord $395 and you had to be served personally, not by mail.
