Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I received a "termination of contract and rental agreement" from my landlords. I rent a room in their house with 2 other roommates. They served me this letter (or "notice) on Sunday, January 3, a non-business day. The letter was typed and both my landlords signed their names at the bottom. But at the heading of the letter it's dated "January 4". Even though the letter was created and them on Jan. 3 and was also served to me on Jan. 3, is it illegal (civilly or criminally) for them to write and give me this letter and to hold on in the eyes in the law? They post dated the letter one day later than we the actual letter was created, signed, and served. Can someone please let me know their opinion and/or knowledge on the legalities of this? Thank you. I appreciate any help.

A minor typographical error like that has absolutely no legal significance in this case except possibly to extend by one day the deadline for you to move out.
