Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I recently got into an altercation with my roommate and im looking to move out. When i got a copy of my lease agreement, i noticed that i myself didnt sign any of it, whats supposedly my name was misspelled everywhere on the agreement and everywhere my roommate inialted, i didnt. what do i do?

Unfortunately, without more facts it is going to be hard to advise you as to how best to proceed. If you did not sign the lease, then you should not be liable for any rent to the landlord if you move out. Your roommate might be able to make a claim that you were his subtenant and that you are liable for rent, but he would have to prove that you agreed to sublease for more than a month-to-month term. Be prepared, however, that if you move out the landlord may sue you for breach of the lease, and you will have to be able to prove that you did not sign the lease. That may require a handwriting expert witness which would be costly. If you want more concrete advise, you really need to contact a tenant rights attorney in your area.
