Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

can he do this?

we recieved a 3 day notice to pay rent or quit. we told the manager we had to give up our apartment. like 4 days later, we got a note on the door saying he was coming in the next day to see if we abandoned our apartment, at 10 am. My husband got there at 8 am, and they were inside already cleaning up the apartment, and they changed the locks. My husband went to check the mail, and there was a note inside saying the apartment was not occupied by us. Now he is suing us for 2500 dollars. The only thing is we don't have the copy of the 3 day notice or the notice to come in. Either way aren't we suppose to have a certain amount of time to get out?

If you said you'd be out on a certain date, the management is not wrong to enter the apartment after that.

Also, you can go to the post office, and ask them to hold your mail.

There is nothing wrong with suing you for $2,500.

Two things: (1) There is a lot more to this than you are telling me, and (2) why didn't you ask for legal advice before the "dirt" hit the fan.
