Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

rent for cash

My landlord demands cash payment for rent. (I'm renting a room in a house.) I have done that whenever I had time to go to the bank. But last month and this month, I did't have time, so I payed by my personal check. He still demands cash payment. Is there any law that tenant has to do as landlord say? Is there any law that rent has to be cash? *My landlord is renting two rooms, and he demands both of us to pay cash.

Re: rent for cash

Read your lease. If the cash provision, is not in the lease, you have a good argument.

Obviously if there is a history of bounced checks, then landlord can ask for cash.

Ask, or write him.
