Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

How does rent control work?

I live in a rent controlled property in the Los Angeles area. I'm told that 4% is the highest that the rent can be raised but my recent increase is more than that by about $20 a month. Are there other fees attached that I am not aware of?

Re: How does rent control work?

I regret that I am not an expert on L.A. rent controls, and have a very busy practice, but take an hour or so a day to help those in need through the Law Guru website.

I spent some time on the internet trying to answer your question, but couldn't find an answer. Here is the L.A. rent control website, with information toll free number.http://www.cityofla.org/LAHD/

See what you can find out.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. Perhaps an L.A. attorney will read this and help you, although you are obviously intelligent, and should find the answer at the toll free number. The phone system wouldn't permit me to call.
