Re: rent increase

Your question is not very clear. When you write "due to an increase in income", I am assuming your salary or wages were increased. However, section 236 housing is an area that we California lawyers don't grapple with very often, since it involves federal law, ans not state law. I have not been able to find a situation where a retroactive rent assessment was found to be legal. I would have to know more facts before giving a definite answer, but my suggestion would be to find a local attorney familiar with landlord & tenant law. Most of the local bar associations have a lawyer referral service at very reasonable rates for half-an-hour interviews. Good luck.

Retroactive rent increase? There would be required legal research. Contact me directly.
