rent increases

my landlord is raising my rent by seventyfive dollars my rent is currently 650 going up to 725 he gave me a thirty day notice is this legal im already looking at my new home

If you were a month to month tenant than yes, this is probably legal -- however if you have an existing lease, you will have to read it carefully to see if it allows for an increase. Also, may cities in California have local ordinances relating to rent control and landlord tenant issues, check with a local attorney if you are unsure.
