Re: rent increases

The answer depends upon whether Clearlake has rent control or not. I practice in Southern California, so I cannot definitively answer the question. Contact the local housing authority, and simply ask if the city (or if you are in the county, call the county) has a rent control ordinance that covers apartment and/or home rentals. If it does, then there are limits (which are a part of the rent-control law). If there is no rent control, the landlord can increase your rent by whatever amount he or she sees fit.

Re: rent increases

Since Clearlake is the county seat, I believe you can ask whether there is rent control in Lake County.

Without rent control, there is no limit, and landlord can raise it every day if he wishes.
