Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I rent a room from a family. Just recently there was major water damage done to the house. The home owners insurance gave the family two room in a hotel for a week, while the home was being tested for asbestos and being remodeled. The home owner in which I rent a room from gave me use of one of the hotel rooms.
My question is; Am I entitled to reimbursement from the home owner for the cost of food while I'm staying in this hotel (I been saving my receipts)?

No. All you are legally entitled to is a rent abatement for the period you were out. That was very generous of the homeowner to give you one of his hotel rooms.
