Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I rent a room in a home. I have been living there for about 16 months. The lady I rent the room from is not the owner. I am never late on my rent. I believe that she now wants to move back to Mexico and I will have to leave. She has yet to notify me of her plans. My question is how much notice must she give me before I have to leave? I had read somewhere that if you rented a room for over I year than the landlord must give you 60 written notice. Thank you for any help you can give me.

She should give you 60 days written notice, but your problem is going to be what can yo do about it. If she moves to Mexico you can not sue her. You can not sue the owner of the house because you have no contract with them. Sit down with the woman and try to convince her it is only fair to give you notice of what will happen. If it seems likely she will move, try to get back any security deposit she has from you and start looking elsewhere for a rental space.
