Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I rent a room to myself in a house that is shared with other tenants. If I install a door knob that requires a key to enter the room I rent. Do I need to give my landlord a copy of the key?

The code sections seem to say you do not, but it is wiser to do so. What happens if there is some emergency in the room while you are not there? The landlord is not allowed to enter without at least 24 hours notice to you or in case of an emergency.
