Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I want to rent out my single family house in santa monica. It never was a "controlled rental unit" . do I have to register it now with the city?

You need to get a copy of the local rent control ordiance which will answer this question and tell you what the problems are in renting. You need to read it thoroughly to be aware of what you need to do sothat you do not need to pay for costly legal defense for you as to future tenant claims.
