You are only legally responsible for any damage to the property you caused during your tenancy that exceeds normal wear & tear. After 7 years, I would suggest that things like paint & carpet replacement are normal wear and tear. Unfortunately, without reviewing the specifics, its impossible for anyone to tell you specifically what you are or are not responsbible for - start with anything that exceeds normal wear & tear for seven years use, and that's a good indication of things she cannot charge you for.

You are responsible only for damages which would be beyond ordinary wear and tear. If your employer is using the claim to deny you wages, you may want to file a claim with the labor commissioner.
