Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Rental Agreement vs. Lease

Is there a difference between a Rental Agreement and a Lease with respect to early termination? My Rental Agreement states it ''shall be for a period of 11 months, 27 days, and states the total rent (yearly) to be paid. Can I terminate this lease with 30-days notice? Thanks.

Re: Rental Agreement vs. Lease

I'm assuming this is a residential lease. Read your agreement, regardless of whether you call it a lease or a rental agreement. Many agreements state that you have to give 6 months' or 3 months' notice that you intend to terminate the agreement. Otherwise, you may be liable for more rent.

Re: Rental Agreement vs. Lease

No difference.

Ms. Healy is correct. Read the provisions carefully. If no clause exists to the contrary, terminate with 30 day Notice.

You are welcome.
